2026 EVENTS AND CLASSES
FROM THE NEAPOLITAN CHAPTER OF EGA
Deborah Mitek taught a two day class “A Garden View”. We learned to embellish a photo transfer of a beautiful garden. Several embroidery stitches were introduced to enhance the garden. These were new stitches to many of us. Deborah demonstrated how to do all of them. Silk ribbons made it three dimensional. All left ready to see their garden flourish.
Laura Smith gave a lecture at the Neapolitan chapter meeting. Dissolve, Sparkle, and crunch: creating Texture with Mixed Media. Who knew we could use some of these like Lutradur!
The day after our meeting we had a two day workshop Batik to Stitch. So much fun creating our own dyed fabric and patterns with the special chops Laura brought. She lead us through the dyeing, stamping and then of course how to embellish. The floor was our drying area. Lunch time and then onto the next step. Embroidery, beads, natural stones and do dads were explored as we added dimension to our pieces. A possible stash buster when we get home to add more to what Laura gave us.
We are the Neapolitan Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America, and, as such, part of EGA's Sun Region which encompasses all of the Florida chapters and Bermuda. EGA's Mission: The mission of the Embroiderers' Guild of America is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage.

Chapter Outreach
The Chapter has recently started a new Outreach by making small felt hearts to give to hospitals, called "Hearts for Love and Kindness". The chapter hopes that the hearts help patients to know that someone is thinking about them in their time of need.
